9th Half: Yangmingshan “Cross Country” Half (1:45)

This was a brutal run up and down some pretty steep hills. Having said that, I would definitely run it again because of the beauty of the course and it was also nice to get up into the cooler air higher up the mountain. The race was advertised as “cross country” but was all on tarmac which was a bit disappointing. Still a nice run though and good to catch up with Nathan, Arthur, Celestin and some of the other foreign running contingent.

Waishuangshi 10k (9.75k in 42:15)

This run was ALL hills! We were either going up or down with some pretty serious gradients in the mix. I didn’t have in in the legs to stay with the leaders and ended up 32nd of about 1000 runners.

ROC 100th Anniversary 10k (9.42km in ~38 min)

It was a weird race with a few good runners, loads of walkers/joggers and very little in between. Even though I came 10th overall, I was totally on my own from 2-3k. It was also pretty hot and not very scenic so all in all not the best but still okay.

8th Half: Haishan Half Marathon … slow and VERY hot!

Although this race started at 6am, the temperature was over 30 deg. C with direct sunlight most of the way. My time was the slowest I’ve run a half for almost 2 years, but it was still good enough for 15th overall and 6th in my age group. Speaking to the other runners afterwards, they were also mostly 10~15 minutes down on their usual times.
